At Cincinnati Health Institute we believe that optimal health and wellness is achieved when the six pillars of health are addressed: Diet, Digestion, Detoxification, Stress, Fitness and Sleep
Detoxification requires that all 3 phases of physiological detoxification be addressed to achieve an optimal whole body detox.
Proper digestion is crucial for optimal health. Gut health is at the forefront of wellness. The gut is thought to be the cornerstone of good health.
Proper nutrition is the fuel that powers our health and everything we do. A poor diet leads to poor digestion.
According to Harvard Health, "The gastrointestinal tract is sensitive to emotion. ... A troubled intestine can send signals to the brain, just as a troubled brain can send signals to the gut. Therefore, a person's stomach or intestinal distress can be the cause or the product of anxiety, stress, or depression."
Fitness doesn't have to mean hours in the gym. It does require movement and commitment to keep your body healthy. A 30 minute walk per day can often be enough for those that are already addressing a total wellness plan.
Over time, not getting enough sleep can be just as harmful as drunk driving, overeating, or not exercising and the consequences can be more severe than just drowsiness.
